Long before Paul Newman ever raced at Daytona, there was a Rolex Cosmography Daytona watch named after him. In the late 1960s, he appeared on the cover of Italian fashion magazine MODA wearing a Rolex model 6239 Daytona. This model and the 6241 (identical except that the colors on the dials are reversed) have since been known as "Paul Newman" Daytonas. Although he never had an official marketing relationship with the company, he wore several of these watches of the years. In 1972, his wife gave him a later model, black-faced, 6263 Daytona wearing the inscription "Drive Slowly, Joanne."
